Pineau des Charentes is a mistelle, an alcoholic beverage of the "quality liqueur wine produced in a specific region" type in France obtained by mixing must (i.e. grape juice) and cognac brandy.
This drink is produced in a region that includes part of the Charente-Maritime and Charente. Pineau des Charentes is an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée. Rémi Landier offers young and aged, white and rosé qualities. These pineau are the result of a demanding selection of good musts and cognacs and of a particular attention given during the maturation.
For the young wines, he uses oak tuns and the old pineaux are aged in oak barrels. Produced in the traditional way, all the pineaux are hand-packed in small batches, very typical and marked by fruity and cognac notes. This Vieux Pineau Rosé is both particularly fruity and concentrated in subtle aromas.
