Description:
Over the centuries, Cahors has earned its letters of nobility by becoming the nectar of Kings, Popes and Tsars.
The pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela passing through Cahors helped to make it known throughout the Middle Ages.
Château de Hauterive is run by Gilles and Dominique Filhol.
Their Cahors has won several medals thanks to its generosity and careful vinification. It is made from two grape varieties: 70% Malbec, specific to Cahors, and 30% Merlot.
The vines on this estate are over 25 years old, with a south-western exposure that gives the grapes a real taste of the sun.
The vinification is carried out in a stainless steel cellar, which allows the temperature to be controlled during the fermentation process in order to enhance the aromas and extract the tannins and colours as desired.
The colour of this Cahors is sober with violet reflections and an expressive and typical nose with accents of violets and red fruits.
The palate is frank and the fruit is enhanced by smooth tannins and a generous body.
